Amazing Moonstone

In my search for a good white rose with a touch of pink, I finally hit upon Moonstone much later in the season (given that we live in San Diego) than I normally would have even searched. After I'd hit upon Moonstone, the only site I found that carried it was Romence, so, with a shrug, we gave it a try, though though we were thoroughly pessimistic. Contrary to our expectations, however, what arrived at our doors was a full-grown, beautifully urn-shaped rose full of buds. Even as it continued to grow disease-free, a perfectly formed shrub, I was not sure I liked the flowers because they did not open fully enough and the stems were short. Then, by early Fall, I overcame my own arrogance enough to realize that I needed to cut the blooms not when the sepals were down but, rather, when the blooms were fully formed. If I would only have the patience to wait, then I would be rewarded with long-stemmed white with pink blush roses that lasted in our vases for well over a week or ten days. At that point I became a loyal patron of both this website and this rose, which now, well into Fall, is still putting out very long stems that leave me in awe.
