In the early to midspring, this beautiful plant provides a striking display of purple flowers. These enduring wildflowers wrap themselves in fluffy seedheads that remain attached to the plant for several weeks thus adding to its aesthetic appeal. Pasque flowers that thrive in the sun make excellent companion plants for spring-blooming bulbs.

Homeowner Growing Tips

Grow in full sun, preferably, or partial shade. Pulsatilla requires very well-drained soil, gritty soil, and will do best in a raised bed or rock garden. Amend with compost and coarse sand or grit before planting; mulch with a layer of gravel after planting. Best grown in cooler climates, where they will be more drought tolerant. In warmer climates, they will require even moisture throughout the summer. Plants resent transplanting once established.
