Add a dramatic touch to the garden with Podophyllum 'Spotty Dotty'. Chocolate-brown spots on the chartreuse foliage make a lovely contrast. In spring, large garnet red flowers can be found underneath the leaves. Plant in the shade garden for vibrant color and easy care. This is a cross between Asian species, but as easy to grow as the familiar American mayapple.

Homeowner Growing Tips

Grow in full or partial shade, in moist, well-drained soil. Amend with compost before planting; mulch with leaves after planting, and again before winter. Somewhat tolerant of dry soils, once established. Plant freely naturalizes, forming a small colony, and may go dormant in the summer (foliage may disappear). Plant with perennials that will fill in the bare spot later in the season, such as hostas, ferns, or toad lilies, or plant amongst a ground cover, such as Lamium or Galium. Poisonous if ingested.
