Striking yellow flowers make a great contrast against the rich green lanceolate leaves. Flowers appear in early summer and are fragrant. Four winged seed pods are produced after the flowers and are quite attractive. It is deer resistant and drought tolerant once established in the landscape. Has an excellent trailing habit that makes it a great ground cover. Native to central and southern U.S.

Oenothera prefers to grow in full sun, in well-drained soil. Very good for rock gardens, gravelly banks, or other areas of poor soil. Very adaptable to hot, dry conditions, sandy or clay soils, and light shade. Avoid sites with excessive moisture, especially in winter. May re-seed.

Beautiful Plant

This is a wonderful plant for the edge of the border or the rock garden. The blossoms are large and bright with a glowing soft yellow which standout beautifully. I enjoy the plant. The only downfall is that the deer also do so on that account the information is misleading.
