Brilliant leaves have golden centers and green margins. The foliage is puckered, heavily corrugated, and thick, making them slug resistant. In the spring the margins are chartreuse, but will change to yellow in a shady location; if it is in a sunny spot the margins might be slightly waxy, giving the plant a blueish-green tone and the centers may be chartreuse. Bright white flowers are on tall stems just above the plant and are frequented by hummingbirds. It is a medium-large size Hosta with an excellent tall, mounded habit. This fabulous plant makes a great focal point. Voted one of the top 25 Hosta varieties in American Hosta Society polls.

Uses: Beds, Borders, Landscapes, Cut Flower
Natures Attraction: Butterflies
Growth Habit: Mounding

Homeowner Growing Tips

Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained soil with high organic content and slightly acidic to neutral pH. They prefer slightly sandy soil over heavy clays as they need aeration for the roots. Grow in high-filtered or dappled sunlight--they can tolerate morning sun but not hot afternoon sun. Hostas are prone to slugs and deer browsing, though some kinds with thicker foliage may not be damaged as badly. Apply slug bait in early spring before the leaves have unfurled to prevent damage. Divide large clumps, if necessary, in spring when sprouts appear, or late summer. Remove dead foliage from the garden in late fall to early winter.
