Geranium sanguineum 'Max Frei'
(9)
With a sea of intense pink blooms held above finely cut green foliage, this aptly named perennial blooms profusely. This plant is excellent as a colorful groundcover or as a filler between shrubs. It is also excellent in containers or mixed into perennial borders. Fall foliage turns red.
Uses: Borders, Edging, Rock Gardens
Growth Habit: Mounding
Homeowner Growing Tips: It is simple to grow geranium in full sun to partial shade with average, medium moisture, well-drained soil. Tolerates minor drought, but thrives and spreads most readily in moist, well-drained soils. For larger crops, deadheading is tiresome and useless. It is possible to cut off side stems at any time to limit the spread. In hot summer climates, foliage may deteriorate after flowering. At this stage, it may be softly cut back and shaped to revive it.
