  • Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
  • Common Name: Hosta
  • Exposure: Full Shade to Partial Sun
  • Hardiness Zone: 3-9
  • Bloom Color: Purple
  • Bloom Time: Summer
  • Garden Height: 15 Inches
  • Garden Spread: 20 Inches

Stunning leaves have chartreuse centers with wide, streaked, blue-green margins. In summer the center of the leaf turns light gold if it is in some sun, otherwise, it stays chartreuse. The foliage is pointed, ovate, and of heavy substance, making it slug resistant. Pretty pale blue-lavender flowers are on tall stems just above the plant and are frequented by hummingbirds. An attractive plant that will fit into multiple places in the garden. Voted the top Hosta variety in American Hosta Society polls! American Hosta Growers Association 'Hosta of the Year', 2001. Winner of the Royal Horticultural Society's 'Award of Garden Merit'.

Uses: Beds, Borders, Landscapes, Cut Flower
Nature Attraction: Butterflies
Growth Habit: Mounding

Homeowner Growing Tips

Hostas grow best in moist, well-drained soil with high organic content and slightly acidic to neutral pH. They prefer slightly sandy soil over heavy clays as they need aeration for the roots. Grow in high-filtered or dappled sunlight--they can tolerate morning sun but not hot afternoon sun. Hostas are prone to slugs and deer browsing, though some kinds with thicker foliage may not be damaged as badly. Apply slug bait in early spring before the leaves have unfurled to prevent damage. Divide large clumps, if necessary, in spring when sprouts appear, or late summer. Remove dead foliage from the garden in late fall to early winter.
