A Hibiscus hardy to zone 4! This plant is sometimes nicknamed "dinner plate Hibiscus" for its huge flowers that are 7' - 8" wide. 'Berry Awesome' has lavender-pink flowers with red centers, contrasting with deep green foliage. Flowers are distributed up and down the height of the plant, not just on top like some varieties. The foliage has a perfect habit and makes a lovely backdrop for the show of flowers that bloom from late summer to early fall. Use this plant as a backdrop or centerpiece for a sunny border or in the place of a shrub in the yard or garden. U.S. native hybrid.

Homeowner Growing Tips

Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Keeping the plants well-watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadhead to improve the appearance of the plant. Mulch for protection in winter. Cut back remaining stems to 3" - 4" in spring before new growth emerges. Hibiscus emerges late in spring, so don't be alarmed if you don't see it right away. It will grow quickly and soon make up for its late start. Apply a balanced fertilizer after growth begins. Watch for Japanese beetles that like to eat this plant.
