Iris germanica 'Mariposa Autumn' produces large bicolor flowers. The upper petals are violet while the lower flowers are white with violet ruffled edges. Flowers are produced above tall, thick stems and bloom in mid-spring.

Homeowner Growing Tips

Grow in full sun to light shade. Bearded Irises prefer well-drained, fertile, slightly alkaline to slightly acidic soils. Plant shallow, with top of rhizome exposed above the soil line. A light mulch may be used, if applied in a thin layer around the plants, but not covering the rhizomes. Fertilize with granular bulb food in early spring and after flowering; scratch into the top inch or two of the soil. Divide plants every three years, in August.
