Homeowner Growing Tips

Provide a spot in full sun. Amend soil with compost and a sprinkling of lime before planting. Dianthus prefer good drainage, especially in winter, so planting on a slight mound can help. A thin layer of gravel or stone chips on top of the soil is preferable to wood mulches or leaves. Deadhead throughout the season to prolong blooming.

Good color

I'm not familiar with Dianthus much over the little ground cover type which are mostly in shades of pink and red. This Dianthus looked orange. My first bloom showed that indeed it was orange. Will see how it progresses. So far so good.
