Baptisia 'Lemon Meringue' has beautiful flowers and blue-green foliage that forms a nice vase shape. In late spring to early summer, lemon yellow flowers cover the charcoal stems. The contrast between the bright flowers and dark stems is quite striking. The blue-green foliage makes a nice backdrop for the interesting flowers. The blossoms eventually give way to ornamental seed pods that extend the attraction into the fall.

Homeowner Growing Tips

Easy to grow in average to poor soil that is well-drained. Best in full sun, but it will tolerate light shade. If grown in too much shade it will need to be staked. Moderately drought tolerant once established, which may take a couple of seasons. Cut back in spring, or whenever it gets flattened by autumn or winter weather. A long-lived plant; avoid disturbing the clump once established.
