Tomato 'Delicious'
(2)
Pot Size: 4.5 Inch Pot
This famous Italian heirloom produces long, blocky tomatoes with a small seed cavity that can be removed to reveal only the meat. This implies that significantly less boiling is required to get a finer paste. The Roma tomato is high-yielding and starts producing fruit pretty quickly. It bears about 3-inch-long, bright red, tapered, plum-shaped fruit. The meaty, delicious flavor of the tomatoes makes them ideal for drying and preserving a sweet, traditional Italian paste.
Type: Saladette/Sauce Tomato

Homeowner Growing Tips: Plant tomato plants in well-drained soil and keep them well-watered but not soggy, watering at the soil level rather than with an overhead sprinkler as much as possible. Place a tomato cage over the plant when you first plant it to provide support, or use another trellising method. You may want to choose an organic fertilizer formulated specially for tomatoes. Sufficient calcium in the soil prevents Blossom End Rot, a common tomato ailment. You may also want to try the old Romence Gardens trick of placing a couple of Tums tablets in the soil to help with this.
This is my first time ordering plants from Romance Gardens and I am very happy with the San Marzanos we received. The plants that arrived were HUGE, in great shape, and some even already had fruit on them. We transplanted them into larger pots and all 6 of the ones we received are thriving. Would definitely buy again.
