Tomato Jet Star matures quickly and has a mild flavor, like several other excellent red slicer tomatoes. The fruit weighs about 6 to 8 ounces and is abundantly produced all summer long. Very few blemishes or cracks may be seen on these large, lovely, globe-shaped tomatoes. This well-liked and versatile slicer is wonderful for canning and tastes fantastic on sandwiches and in salads.

Homeowner Growing Tips: Plant tomato plants in well-drained soil and keep them well-watered but not soggy, watering at the soil level rather than with an overhead sprinkler as much as possible. Place a tomato cage over the plant when you first plant it to provide support, or use another trellising method. You may want to choose an organic fertilizer formulated specially for tomatoes. Sufficient calcium in the soil prevents Blossom End Rot, a common tomato ailment. You may also want to try the old Romence Gardens trick of placing a couple of Tums tablets in the soil to help with this.
