  • Fruit has a rich, full flavor
  • Short vining plant

This lovely heirloom produces dusky-pink to purple fruit with dark shoulders on short vining plants. The flavorful flesh ranges in color from purple to brown to green. The rich, full flavor is often compared to that of a 'Brandywine'.

Type: Heirloom Slicing Tomato
Fruit Size: 10 - 12 Ounces
Notable Features: Indeterminate
Growth Habit: Upright

Homeowner Growing Tips: Plant tomato plants in well-drained soil and keep them well-watered but not soggy, watering at the soil level rather than with an overhead sprinkler as much as possible. Place a tomato cage over the plant when you first plant it to provide support, or use another trellising method. You may want to choose an organic fertilizer formulated specially for tomatoes. Sufficient calcium in the soil prevents Blossom End Rot, a common tomato ailment. You may also want to try the old Romence Gardens trick of placing a couple of Tums tablets in the soil to help with this.

So happy with our tomatoes, and even though we did have one tomato plant that was just very unhappy, but Jessica and Sarah to the rescue and right away a great replacement! All three are planted and all are showing great fruiting already! We love our heirloom tomatoes and these were so worth actually ordering as opposed to the home center. The difference in the plants is obvious by the care that Romence takes. This is our second order this year, and we'll be back for fall. Note: we prepped everything for ground transplant with vitamins, and concentrated on roots first. We had no transplant shock, or leaf drop/ curl. We also did soil amendment as we're pretty clay heavy here. Fourth generation gardners.
