Miscanthus sinensis 'Encore'
Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
Fantastic grass with its variegated leaves that are green with a thin white margin. Gives off a silvery cast when hit with morning or late afternoon sun. Foliage fades to tan throughout the winter. It has an excellent upright, rounded habit that never flops and is deer resistant. Flowers are reddish-bronze and need a very long, hot growing season to bloom. As the seedheads mature they turn a cream color and look great in the winter against the tan leaves. A versatile grass that fits into any landscape.
Height: 4-5 feet
Spread: 3-4 feet
Uses: Borders, Containers, Cut Flower, Landscapes, Mass Plantings, Rain Garden, Screening, Specimen
Critter Resistance: Deer Resistant
Notable Features: Variegated foliage; Blooms: Fall, Winter
Homeowner Growing Tips: A very adaptable plant, and tolerant of most conditions, but prefers full sun and moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Some shade may be appreciated in hot climates. Cut close to the ground in late winter. This is also the time to divide, if necessary.
I ordered one additional Miscanthus to go with two I bought previously here. All three are growing like grass--just like they should be. As with any online plant buying, the plants are small but they are very healthy, growing vigorously, and look fantastic. Problem free, very satisfied customer.
