This plant has a great upright and short habit, which means that it does not have to be staked. The fragrant flowers are a beautiful lavender-blue against the grey-green leaves. It is deer resistant, drought tolerant once established in the landscape, and attracts hummingbirds. An attractive long-blooming plant that is great to have in the landscape. Perovskia atriplicifolia was named 1995 Perennial Plant Association Plant of the Year.

Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in full sun in well-drained soils. Tolerates clay soil, dry, alkaline soils, poor fertility, and salt spray. Cut stems back close to the base in early spring.

Arrived as a strong healthy plant, Planted in a new north facing bed in poorly draining clay soil. Looks healthy and hopefully will come back next year.
