Pot Size: 1 Gallon Pot
Hydrangea macrophylla 'Let's Dance® Blue Jangles' is a reliable bloomer with sturdy stems to hold abundant flowers. The florets have a distinctive geometric shape and are packed into full mopheads for an awesome display. It blooms in the summer and will usually re-bloom in late summer for extended color and beauty in the garden.
Uses: Asian Gardens, Borders, Landscapes, Mass Planting, Woodland Gardens
Notable Features: Shade Tolerant, Good cut flower, Variable flower color depending on your soil, Easily impresses the neighbors
Growth Habit: Upright, Rounded, Bushy
Homeowner Growing Tips: Flower color will change depending on the pH of the soil. To get blue flowers the soil should be more acidic (we recommend mixing in lots of Canadian peat moss into the soil before planting); flowers will be pink in more alkaline soils.
Let's Dance® hydrangeas are best left unpruned--though they bloom on both old and new wood, you'll enjoy many more blooms over a longer period if you don't prune them except to remove any dead wood in spring once the new growth has emerged, and to deadhead the tips after blooming, if desired.
Big-leaf hydrangeas benefit from a good layer of shredded bark mulch to keep their shallow roots from drying out; provide supplemental water through the summer. In colder climates, they should get at least six hours of sun, ideally in the morning; warm climate gardeners should ensure plants are shaded during the hottest parts of the day.
