This is a standout performer in the garden! 'Holy Grail' adds a wonderful richness to the garden with its almost black, oval shaped foliage. Mulch for protection in winter. Cut back remaining stems to 3" - 4" in spring before new growth emerges. Hibiscus emerge late in spring, so don't be alarmed if you don't see it right away. It will grow quickly and soon make up for its late start. Apply a balanced fertilizer after growth begins. Watch for Japanese beetles that like to eat this plant.
These arrive not in the best condition. The shipper left the box upside down and the plants pretty much arrived as loose dirt and broken limbs. I transferred them to pots and they quickly rebound. When I say quick, I mean just that. In a matter of days these beauties doubled in size with new growth. Within a month there were buds which blossomed into the most beautiful flowers. I even dried a few and made pitchers of Hibiscus Tea. I can’t say enough how pleased I was with this purchase and I will buy again.
