Homeowner Growing Tips: Provide a spot in full sun. Amend soil with compost and a sprinkling of lime before planting. Dianthus prefer good drainage, especially in winter, so planting on a slight mound can help. A thin layer of gravel or stone chips on top of the soil is preferable to wood mulches or leaves. Deadhead throughout the season to prolong blooming.
