A superb grass for beds, borders, and cottage gardens. It makes a great focal point with its deep green to dark purple foliage in the spring. It really begins to show off earlier than other ornamental grasses, and the foliage color deepens to almost black as the season progresses. Big bluestem is an important member of the tallgrass prairie ecosystem of North America. This cultivar is a seedling of Andropogon gerardii 'Red October'.

Highly recommend. This grass is easy to grow and it looks spectacular next to yellow colored plants. It’s a stand out specimen
