Thyme - French (Herb)
Pot Size: Quart Pot
Excellent small plant for rock gardens that adds great texture. Stems will form a flat mat and are hairy hence the common name. The foliage is tiny and elliptical. It is gray in color and quite attractive when massed. Flowers are tiny, tubular in shape, and appear in the summer. Not for culinary use, but superb in the landscape. Also known as Thymus praecox subsp. britannicus.
Uses: Banks, Beds, Borders, Containers, Cottage Gardens, Edging, Groundcover, Mass Planting, Pathways, Rock Gardens

Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in full sun, in neutral to alkaline, well-drained soil. Tolerates shallow, rocky soils & poor fertility. Avoid poorly-drained soils; prefers to dry out between waterings. Divide in spring, if desired. Shear low in spring; shear lightly after flowering; trim back as needed to keep tidy.
