Thalictrum 'Splendide'
Thalictrum 'Splendide'
Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
- Tall perennial with small, lobed leaves in an open, airy form
- Blooms heavily with tiny purple flowers like Baby's Breath
- Good accent for height in a shade garden, or moist, sunny border
Thalictrum 'Splendide' adds a graceful and delicate architectural touch to the garden with its tall, airy form. Gorgeous lavender-mauve flowers form like clouds atop the burgundy stems. Lacy, green foliage brings attractiveness to the garden even when the plant is not in bloom. Flowers bloom from mid to late summer and look wonderful in bouquets. This hybrid derived from Thalictrum delavayi & T. elegans is one of our tallest perennials, so plant it where support can be provided by its neighbors.
Uses: Borders, Cottage Gardens, Flower Beds, Landscapes, Mass Planting, Woodland Gardens
Nature Attraction: Butterflies
Critter Resistance: Deer, Rabbits
Notable Features: Cut flower
Growth Habit: Upright
Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in dappled shade, in moist soil. Amend with compost before planting. Tolerates more sun with reliably moist soil; this may reduce the need for staking. Sprouts late in spring, so it may be a good idea to mark your plant to avoid disturbing the area. Every 2-3 years, divide in spring as new growth begins, and apply mulch. Not a good plant for hot, humid regions.
