Homeowner Growing Tips: Grow in full sun, or partial sun in hot southern regions, in well-drained soil. Does well in sandy or gravelly soils; tolerates poor fertility, Cut back by half in June, to prevent flopping apart later in summer. Spent flowers may be left on through winter to provide interest; cut down in spring when new growth appears. Divide every 3-4 years in spring for best flowering.
