Origanum x hybrida 'Kirigami'

$15.99

Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot

  • Captivating, unusual cone-like flowers
  • Blooms are pale green & purple
  • A lot of beauty in a small, compact plant
We have been noticing increasing interest in our perennial oreganos when they are in bloom, and this one is a perfect example of their ornamental value. Origanum x hybrida 'Kirigami' is a fantastic choice to add fun texture to flower beds, hanging baskets, and containers. This non-edible oregano produces interesting flowers in the form of large, purplish-green bracts--almost like hops--from spring into the fall. (Kirigami is a form of origami that involves cutting paper into decorative shapes--when you see the flowers, you'll understand.) It is a low maintenance plant that is both heat and drought tolerant. Try out this beauty and see if your friends can guess what it is!

Uses: Borders, Containers, Cottage Gardens, Edging, Ground Cover, Hanging Baskets, Herb Gardens, Landscapes, Mass Planting, Retaining Walls, Rock Gardens, Xeriscaping

Homeowner Growing Tips: This low maintenance plant prefers average to somewhat dry soil with good drainage year round. Snip off old blooms to extend flowering period. Benefits from some mulch protection in winter in Zone 5. Trim off old stems in spring when new growth appears. Can be divided every 3-4 years in the spring.
