Large cherry red blooms can be seen on "Red Velvet." The collection's tallest variety. The greenery is cast in bronze as it first appears. Because monarda is a native of eastern North America, it is simple to grow and spreads out quickly. Hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees in large numbers are drawn to the garden by the sweet nectar of the flowers. Teas are frequently flavored with the fragrant leaf, which when crushed has a minty scent.

In early spring, cut old foliage to the ground; divide every 3-4 years at this time, if desired. Apply a balanced all-purpose fertilizer (e.g., 10-10-10) in spring when growth resumes.
