Miscanthus sinensis 'Bandwidthâ„¢'
(1)
Pot Size: 5.25 Inch Square Pot
Gorgeous grass that has variegated leaves of white and green; white is the predominant color. From a distance the plant has a silvery glow. The flowers need a long, hot growing season to bloom. When that requirement is met the blooms open up to red fluffy panicles in early fall. Winter foliage color is beige and the flowers will also sometimes persist, which makes a great contrast to the leaves. It has cascading leaves, needs space to grow, and is deer resistant. An excellent plant for containers or to use in hedges. This very popular variety has been in cultivation since 1900!
Height: 5-8 feet
Spread: 3-5 feet
Uses: Border, Containers, Cottage Garden, Cut Flowers, Landscapes, Mass Plantings, Rain Garden, Screening, Specimen
Critter Resistance: Deer
Notable Features: Variegated foliage; Blooms: Fall, Winter
Homeowner Growing Tips: A very adaptable plant, and tolerant of most conditions, but prefers full sun and moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Some shade may be appreciated in hot climates. Snow may collapse the foliage, but if left intact for winter interest, cut close to the ground in late winter. This is also the time to divide, if necessary. This can be a sprawling plant that may require additional support or enough room to not crowd other plants.
