I grow these often because the hummingbirds love it, but do do the other backyard animals. So I have to replant often, this year they grew so well, full of dark red blooms!
- Bright, true-red flowers on tall spikes all summer long
- Attracts hummingbirds like few other plants
- Terrific on the edge of a woodland garden
If you want a hummingbird magnet then Cardinal Flower is the plant. The fiery red flower spikes appear in summer and continue flowering into the fall. The upright habit displays the red-hot flowers perfectly for all to see. Excellent plant for moist soils but will tolerate average soils just as well. Native to most of the continental United States, except the upper West.
