Homeowner Growing Tips: Plant in moist, well-drained soil in full sun. Keeping the plants well-watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadhead to improve the appearance of the plant. Mulch for protection in winter. Cut back remaining stems to 3" - 4" in spring before new growth emerges. Hibiscus emerges late in spring, so don't be alarmed if you don't see it right away. It will grow quickly and soon make up for its late start. Apply a balanced fertilizer after growth begins. Watch for Japanese beetles that like to eat this plant.
