Pot Size: 1 Gallon Pot
- Masses of tiny pink flowers in spring
- Compact size
- Good alternative to spirea
A member of the venerable Hydrangea family, this charming little shrub is a pink-flowered alternative to Deutzia 'Nikko'. Low to the ground and delicate in appearance, 'Yuki Cherry Blossom®' appears to be covered with a pink mist as the flower buds emerge in springtime. As the buds open, the insides of the flowers are revealed to be light pink, while the outsides of the petals are dark pink with a pale edge. The overall effect is similar to a pink Baby's Breath. Nice as a groundcover under smaller trees or larger shrubs, filler in a larger border, or to stabilize that problem hillside.
Uses: Asian Gardens, Borders, Cottage Gardens, Groundcover, Landscapes, Mass Plantings, Slopes
Critter Resistance: Deer
Nature Attraction: Hummingbirds
Growth Habit: Mounding
Homeowner Growing Tips: Provide sun or partial shade, avoid prolonged drought with supplemental watering as needed. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in spring; liquid fertilizer for blooming plants may be used in summer. After blooming, thin out about a quarter of the branches by pruning to the base, then lightly trim back any remaining branches as needed to maintain shape.
