Ampelopsis elegans is a tendril climbing vine that is fast growing. It produces green flowers that are not very showy but are followed by blue berries. Best fruiting occurs with plants that get more sun. This variety has a similar habit to wild grapevines. The foliage is tri-lobed and variegated with white and puts on its best display when the plants have some light shade. Flowers and fruit occur on new growth, so they can be pruned to the ground in late winter to control size.
